Here is the news we all have been waiting for over the past 16 months - Anton is no longer an orphan!Right now, Anton and his forever mom, Vanessa, are heading home to the United States where his daddy Jason, his older sister Kenya, and - what a miracle! - his "twin" brother Judah (who was born the same day as Anton) are waiting for them.
Anton's mom, Vanessa tells how she and Jason learned of Anton; how they first met with Anton; what they did to win Anton's trust:
Jason and I (Vanessa) have been married for 7 years and we have a 5 year old daughter named Kenya and a 2 year old son named Judah. Jason and I had always known that we would add to our family one day by adopting but we weren't sure when the right time would be. In August of 2008 we found out I was pregnant with conjoined twin girls. We were of course devastated, not knowing what the future held for our family or our daughters, but we knew that God was the one forming our daughters in my womb and He alone would be the one to decide how long they lived (Psalm 139). It was through my pregnancy with Melody and Madison that Jason and I developed a HUGE heart for kids with special needs. Melody and Madison were born on November 11th 2008 and they lived for a hour. We are so grateful that they were born alive because half of all conjoined twins are still born. We loved on our girls and made lots of memories with them in that short hour. It was also during my pregnancy with Melody and Madison that I found several blogs of families whose children had Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). I fell in love with these families and really learned a lot about EB through their blogs.
Our son Judah was born on January 16, 2010 and after I had him Jason and I decided that we would only have more children through adoption and we knew we wanted to adopt a child with special needs. We don't look at adoption any differently than birth and we know that through adoption the child would become our son or daughter. We still weren't sure when we would start the process so again we were just waiting on God's timing. Then in February of 2011 I really felt like we should start the process to adopt, then I thought, "No, Judah is just 13 months old, it's too soon." But I couldn't get adoption out of my mind. Then 3 days later my friend Kristy posted Anton's picture on Facebook and she shared his story. As soon as I saw his picture and read his story I feel in love with him and I knew that I wanted him to be our son. I had about 15 minutes before I could call Jason so I prayed and asked if it was God's will for us to adopt Anton then would He please give Jason the desire to adopt him too. I called Jason and told him all about Anton, I was bawling as I described what Anton's first 10 months of life were like. Iasked him what he thought and he said, "We have always wanted to adopt, of course lets move forward with it." I got off the phone with him and started calling adoption agency's and home study agency's and have not stopped working since the day we found out about him. In March of 2011 I stayed with the William's Family for 8 days and Patrice trained me in all things EB. I learned how to do bath, dressing change, diaper change, G-Tube feeding (Anton's doesn't have a G-Tube but it's still good to know how to do it) and many more things. I learned a lot about EB and I knew we could give Anton a loving, safe and happy home.
We were able to travel to Russia for the first time in November of 2011 and it is on that trip that we were able to meet Anton and officially commit to his adoption. The first time I held Anton was no different than the first time I held all of my children after they were born, I fell in love with him and couldn't wait to take him home. Jason did so great with him and Anton bonded really fast to Jason. Besides Anton's nanny, Jason was his favorite person that week. We were able to see Anton for five days that trip and I cried leaving the hospital because I knew I was going to miss him so much. I was so relieved though because he was being so well cared for. All the doctors and nurses love him and his nanny is AMAZING. She is the only "mommy" he has ever known and she has taken such great care of him.
We went back to Russia at the end of January and had court in February where we were able to adopt him. I am now back in Russia for our third and final trip and I will be taking Anton home on March 17. We are overjoyed that he is our son and we can't wait to bring him home. Kenya and Judah are so excited their brother is coming home soon and they talk about him all the time! If you would like to keep following Anton's journey feel free to check out our family blog: http://goodtimesdelgadostyle.blogspot.com/. I don't post all the time but I will try to keep you all updated as much as I can and I will try to post lots of pictures!
I want to say thank you to everyone on his FB page. Thank you for spreading the word about Anton, thank you for praying for him to find a family and thank you for donating to help care for him. God has done such an amazing miracle through bringing Anton into our lives and making him our son. All glory and honor and praise belongs to our great God and savior!
Psalm 86:8-12
There is none like you among the gods, O Lord
nor are there any works like yours.
All the nations you have made shall come
and worship before you, O Lord,
and shall glorify your name.
For you are great and do wondrous things;
you alone are God.
Teach me your way, O LORD,
that I may walk in your truth;
unite my heart to fear your name.
I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart,
and I will glorify your name forever.
